Mariya Peneva holds a BSc in Agricultural Economics, an MSc in Finance, and a PhD in Quantitative Methods for Agribusiness from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Bulgaria. She is currently an Associate Professor at UNWE and a Visiting Research Fellow at IAMO, Germany. She teaches Quantitative Methods, Agricultural Economics, and Rural Development (blogs.unwe.bg/mpeneva). Her research focuses on agricultural and farm structural changes and food system resilience, linking agriculture, ecosystems, and innovations in projects aimed at sustainable rural and agrifood transitions. She has over 70 peer-reviewed publications (Google Scholar), led EU-funded projects, and contributed to consultancy. At UNWE, she is actively engaged in research and partnerships, serving as Editor-in-Chief of scientific journals, Research Papers and Yearbook, as well as project leader and departmental coordinator. Her international experience is enhanced by visiting lectureships and training programs across Europe, including opportunities under the CEEPUS and ERASMUS+ programs.
